I actually had this question asked of me before. The reasons I volunteer in Laramie are it is where I live and there are a myriad of opportunities here to help my friends, neighbors, and those that can’t help themselves anymore or never could. There are many places that need help in the world, but my influence can reach Laramie with my direct efforts. If I can help those here with what talents God has given me, perhaps any one of those I help will be able to reach more later.

It's important to me to volunteer in the community because I have small children and I want volunteering to be a part of their rhythm of life. I want them to grow up giving back and for that to be a part of "normal" life. It's sometimes hard to incorporate children in volunteer work but I believe starting them young is critical! I encourage my friends to consider volunteering with Laramie Connections because they really do try to connect you with service opportunities that work with your own circumstances.
