Seneca Shoales
I volunteer because I feel obligated to give back to my community and serve others. SAFE Project’s mission is to uplift survivors of domestic violence, stalking, trafficking, and sexual assault, and they present many fulfilling opportunities for volunteering. Serving as a volunteer at SAFE Project allows me to share some of the darkest and most emotionally trying times with our clients and callers, and prove to them that they have not been forgotten or left behind by the rest of the world. This gives me a chance to live out my faith by serving others however they need, whether that be forming a long-term plan to leave an abusive relationship, or finding shelter in the middle of the night. SAFE Project reinforces the hope of escaping abuse and finding justice; it is an absolute blessing and honor to serve with them.
Volunteering at SAFE Project has provided me with wisdom and life skills that I would not have found anywhere else, and now find indispensable. SAFE trains and prepares their volunteers for real-life situations, and offers incredible support for their volunteers whenever we may need it. I would encourage others to take the first step by simply reaching out to a current volunteer and asking them about their experience volunteering with SAFE or any other humanitarian organization here in Laramie. Our small town has ample opportunity for members to give back and love others well through service
SAFE Project is a shining example of selfless work and love for everyone, no matter their background. Everyone is welcomed with open arms, and volunteers and staff work tirelessly to find the resources needed to help whoever walks through their doors. I am one of many volunteers who find purpose through serving and have found direction in this with the help of SAFE. Clients feel the love and dedication the volunteers have for them through the endless hours spent on the phone or during a shelter meeting. SAFE has helped countless people find safety and security, and show them there is still good in the world.
As a volunteer, I have never felt my efforts go unnoticed, and deeply appreciate the time each staff member has spent educating and encouraging me during my time with them. I am grateful for the opportunities that have been given to me through SAFE project, and I look forward to continuing to serve them in the years to come.
Seneca was nominated by SAFE Project and Sponsored by RML Associates
Seneca started volunteering with SAFE Project in 2022 and ever since has been a bright light in the darkness for many survivors of abuse. She quickly took on the role of being a lead volunteer on our 24-hour hotline and has always been more than willing to help us out when we are in a bind. Seneca has gone above and beyond for the survivors she has worked within the community. SAFE Project is forever grateful for Seneca and her dedication to our organization.
