LHS PFAMS: Plainsmen Football Athlete Mentoring Squad
Volunteering is a pretty important thing for me right now especially knowing how much our community struggles with sufficient food and supplies for those in need, the best way others can help volunteer is one donating to your local food banks and Laramie Interfaith as well as donating your time to volunteer. The amount of people that are impacted by Laramie interfaith is astounding and when you get to see the work and time you put in go to help others it’s the reason I keep coming back
LHS PFAMS was nominated by Laramie Interfaith and Sponsored by Laramie Interfaith
Led by Sam Harshberger and Tyler Gale, ongoing volunteers for Laramie Interfaith, the Laramie High School PFAMS organized a food drive for Laramie Interfaith concurrent with their homecoming football game. This group of young men worked with school administrators to have public admission to the game waived if an individual donated to the food drive and, for those who did not donate, to have admission fees donated to Laramie Interfaith as well.
In addition to this, they worked to create a competition between grade levels at the high school and reached out to their opponent, Cheyenne Central, to have their fans participate in the food drive as well; a gesture that was embraced as much as it helps build a community across Wyoming.
Once completed, they arranged a time to bring the food to Laramie Interfaith and spent a weekend of their own time unloading, processing, and getting all of the donated food ready to be given out through the Laramie Interfaith pantry.
