Malisa Shandy
The main reason I volunteer is because it makes me feel needed and I feel I'm helping others in need of our services. I love having a feeling of accomplishment at the end of the day. It gives me a sense of pride to know that I help people who have no other way to get to the places that are important to them. I love giving my time to others who without this service could have to go without groceries or doctor visits. I encounter people every day at least once, who ask me about our organization. I always take time to tell them about us. I always encourage them if they have time to volunteer with us or any other community resource to do so. I get so much out of it and I know they would also. The one thing that compels me to serve as a volunteer is because I know that we are helping our community. I have been homebound without transportation or any friends to help me get where I need to go. It was very hard to be stuck with no options. I help take that worry away! At the end of the day, I can go home and feel great about my day. Not just once in a while but every day. I am grateful for the service I supply. And I am grateful for my 'boss' Tim Snowbarger because he gave me the chance to volunteer with Laramie Connections and give back to my community.

Malisa is such a wonderful part of Laramie Connections! She is our Number One Go To driver and she really represents our mission to serve others. She is always eager to pick up extra drives and takes full advantage of her time on the road with our friends in need. She is a great listener and she genuinely cares about people's stories. She often makes sure that we know when someone is in need of other services offered in our community. We can honestly say that Malisa truly helps keep the wheels turning every day that she serves with us!
